Lose the neediness by getting your needs met.

Have you ever really sat down and thought about what you need? Do you have some unmet needs stopping you from living your best life? Recognising your personal needs is the first step to creating a strategy to eradicate the neediness?

That tends to happen when our needs are not met is we can come across as needy, demanding, frustrated and out of kilter. When our needs are met we are able to free up time, live by our values and attract positive opportunity and people into our lives!

Personal needs are not dissimilar to our everyday body needs such as sleep, food and shelter, they are something we must have in order for us to be our absolute best. At different stages of life our personal needs shall change. What might be your top four current needs? Clarity, love, care, order, safety, freedom, to achieve, certainty, to accomplish, etc.?

As a Personal Coach the most common need I come across with my clients is peace – to create balance in their lives.
Q – I am a busy working mother with two children, 7 and 10yrs, I feel as though I am constantly on the go with little time for myself. My husband works long hours and travels quite often for work. I am exhausted! How do I make time for me with some space to breath?

A - Creating some balance is key! Add some ‘self-time’ into your diary otherwise it shall never happen, teach your children to honour and respect some ‘quiet mum time’, ask for help from a family member or friend, have fun doing chores together (it can be done), make date nights with your husband, learn to say ‘no’ with conviction, address any fear or guilt stopping you from implementing solid boundaries. There are always alternative ways to do things that can make things easier.

Weak boundaries ==> self-dishonouring, frustration, less productive, passive aggressive behaviour, lack of energy.
Strong boundaries ==> self-honouring, graceful assertion, clarity, more time, increased energy, more joy.

Once you take the time to recognise your present core needs you can then strategise to get these needs met…addressing your current behavior and creating self-awareness around these needs is a great start. Getting your needs met to eradicate your neediness starts with you!

To get the ball rolling you might like to ask yourself -

Is this really a need?

What makes this need important?

What is stopping me from getting these needs met?

Who do I have to become to get these needs met?

What do you need right now for more energy, fulfillment and joy?
Before the year is out, commit to create your ultimate reality!
