In one of his MondayMorningMemo issues, Roy H Williams (The Wizard of Ads) talks about the concept of “Do It Backwards”!

He rightly suggests that we need a new way of thinking about challenges and refers to a better way of marketing and market research.

So when people ask the question “How can I get more customers?” and the usual answer is to start by looking at “Who is your customer?” he suggests that the concept of “backward thinking” be used. So instead of asking the traditional questions and then researching based on that question, we should start at the other end of the problem by asking “Who isn’t your customer and why?”

Furthermore, Williams asks “Are you prepared to broaden your message to appeal to people who haven’t been attracted to you in the past?”

And for my money this goes to the heart of problem solving in these difficult times where we need a new way of looking at things. After all, Einstein is quoted as saying that “no problem is ever solved by the same thinking that created it“.

So by using “backwards thinking” we open up new possibilities!

What are you doing differently these days and are you open to the idea of “backward thinking”?

It may be the most forward thinking thing you do!

..… from The Referral Master®

Albert Einstein once said that…. ‘The same thinking that led you to where you are will not take you were you want to be’.

So to keep on doing the same thing, or maybe more of the same thing, these days is simply not going to work.

Now is the time to make some changes because you certainly won’t when things get better and you are flat out making money.

If you can’t change the world economy, you certainly can change what you do. Now is the time to start investing in the most important asset in your business … YOU!

Here are seven “hands on” suggestions!

1. Do some extra skills training
2. Re-evaluate your marketing offer
3. Sell your out-of-date software, hardware and office detritus
4. Get rid of the customers who “cost” you money
5. Form a “mastermind” group to help refocus your business
6. Form that business alliance you have been putting off
7. Start a newsletter that adds value to the recipients

Remember, the time to make some changes is NOW!
